Welcome to "The Nature of Trash" exploration module. Here you can learn about biodegradable trash, and see how nature recycles trash in the wild!"Trash" or "Garbage" are the leftover parts of the resources we use. When you eat a candy bar, the wrapper is leftover and not very useful, so we get rid of it. However, what if there was a use for the candy bar wrapper? Would it make sense to throw away the wrapper? If there was another use for the wrapper, it would make more sense to recycle it. However, sometimes it is not possible to recycle our garbage, and it ends up in a landfill. This is bad because most of the trash in a landfill will be there for thousands of years, virtually unchanged. This is because most of the trash in the landfill is not BIODEGRADABLE. When an item is BIODEGRADABLE, it means that the item can be recycled by natural means. Click here to see how a BIODEGRADABLE item can be naturally recycled.
