Welcome to the "Reuse Your Trash" exploration module. Here you can see some different ways to reduce the amount of trash in our landfills by both reducing and reusing your trash before you throw it away!


Every year, the average American creates 1,825 pounds of garbage a year!

If we could all reduce just a small amount of the garbage we place in the landfill, it would add up to a significant difference. EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS!

Buy fewer items

Buy only the items you really need

Buy items with little or no packaging

Buy items that will last a long time...

Newspaper Newspapers can be used to house train a new puppy!
Glass Jars Glass Jars can be used to store scews and nails.
Plastic Bottles Plastic Bottles can be used for mixing and storing fertilizers and pesticides.
Leftover Food Leftover Food can be turned into COMPOST and used in your yard and garden.
Tinfoil Sometimes Tinfoil can be reused, or cleaned and reused to wrap other things.
